The Old Cataract hotel is a 5* deluxe property, constructed in 1899 on a granite bluff overlooking the river Nile. This hotel has welcomed leading members of society, world famous celebrities and Heads of State. Past residents include Winston Churchill, the Agha Khan, King Farouk and the late Diana, Princess of Wales. Agatha Christie regularly resided here whilst writing her best seller ‘Death on the Nile’.

There are a number of excellent restaurants including 1902 which serves fine French cuisine with live classical entertainment.
